CLICHÉS FOR ESSAYS ON THE INTRODUCTION TO ENGLISH EXAM. HOW TO WRITE AN ESSAY IN ENGLISH. PHRASES EXPRESSING PERSONAL OPINION

For several years, the format of the essay on the exam has remained unchanged - opinion essay, writing-reflection... The volume of the essay also does not change: 200-250 words... Assessment criteria, work plan, formulation of the task - all this is repeated from year to year, there is no need to expect surprises (if they are planned, then you can learn about them in advance from the specifications and demos on the FIPI website). Thus, the exam essay is not so much creative as technical work. In this article, we'll take a closer look at how to effectively do such work to get the highest score possible.

Example of an assignment in the form of an exam essay
First, let's see what we actually have to write. The assignment from https://essayassistant.net/contact-us/  version looks like this:

Comment on the following statement.

A student cannot study effectively without a computer.

What should be in an essay?
As in any opinion essay, the exam essay should include an introduction, a main body, and a conclusion.

The introduction sets the topic of the essay and poses the problem... In other words, in the introduction we write that there is a certain situation and there are different views about this situation. In doing so, it is not necessary to write your view of the situation in the introduction, as this may be interpreted by some experts as a deviation from the plan, where "express your personal opinion" is the second point. The safest option is to put your opinion in the second paragraph..

Let me stress that expressing an opinion in the second paragraph is my recommendation, not the only option. There is no direct indication that the opinion should be located there. There is only a criterion of conformity with the plan, which different experts may understand differently.

The main body contains three blocks:

The author's opinion and his reasoning.
An opinion contrary to the author's.
An explanation of why the author disagrees with the contrary opinion.
Arguments are the basis of the entire composition... The more objective and accurate they are, the better. Arguments cannot be replaced with emotions, examples or overly general phrases.

These are not arguments:

A student cannot learn effectively without a computer. I think that's because when I once tried to spend a week without my computer, it was awful.
In the first case, there is substitution by emotional example. Personal experience is too subjective to use in an exam essay. Use our service buy argumentative essay today. In the second case, the argument is replaced with a generic phrase that expresses nothing of substance.

In conclusion, we summarize all that has been said, generalize, and draw conclusions.... That is, in many ways we are repeating information already mentioned, but, first, we are using different words, and second, we are looking at it from a slightly different angle.

More details on the role of the introduction, main body and conclusion can be found in the article, and on arguments and common mistakes in the paper.
